British Columbia Divorce Court Fees
The British Columbia Supreme Court charges a fee to file for divorce in British Columbia. There is a separate fee to file each stage of your divorce. These court fees are applicable for all British Columbia divorce applicants regardless of who files your divorce in court.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 court fees are mandatory. Stage 3 is optional and applies only if you require a Certificate of Divorce.
Effective July 1, 2010 the court filing fees are:
- $210.00 for stage 1 - filing the Notice of Family Claim,
- $80.00 for stage 2 - filing the Requisition for Divorce, and
- $40.00 for stage 3 - per Certificate of Divorce requested.
Self-Filers
If you are filing your divorce forms in court yourself, you may pay court filing fees in cash, debit card (most courts) or by money order or certified cheque payable to the Minister of Finance. The court does not accept payment in advance so each fee must be paid as and when each filing is made.
